What did you learn about your skill set? What did you learn about yourself? I learned so much about myself. I learned that at such a limited time, I can be resourceful and make decisions on the spot. I have also learned I have such a long road ahead of me, and that I should never beat myself up for the mistakes I have made as they will do nothing but help me progress. How is your project relevant to you? How is it relevant to the school? How is it relevant to the community? My project is relevant to me because it is something that I am passionate about. I am not quite sure if it is relevant to my school and my community, but I hope that my project will help me in the future so I can give back to others. What impact did your Capstone have on you?My Capstone impacted my overall knowledge and skills for art and how I expanded my experience. Learning these will help me in my future desired career as a graphic designer. What aspects of your project are you most proud of? I am proud of the drawings I have produced. Looking back on the drawings over time, you can really see the progress and evolution and how I got more comfortable with drawing digitally. What was a difficulty you encountered while researching your Capstone project? How were you able to overcome those obstacles? I would have to say it was difficult in the beginning because before drawing, I had to create a storyline for my video game. Which I had to do an extensive amount of research and planning for. I was also struggling with using a new software for digital designing, but I had to keep drawing and drawing as I started to become more comfortable with it. What is the one thing you would have changed about your project if you could? Looking back, I probably should have spent more time drawing rather than wasting my time on researching and planning. I guess I got a little carried away with the story as I wanted it to be perfect. What advice would you offer to future Capstone students to help them with their Capstone journey? My advice for future Capstone students is, don’t expect everything you do to be perfect. My Capstone topic is art-related, and this is a big challenge that every artist face. Every concept that I made; I always had the tendency to make everything I drew to be perfect. This was a problem as it contradicts the purpose of concept designing, which is to visualize the designer’s idea rather than making a perfect, fully rendered art. So, this Capstone really made me think about the way I usually did things, and it really taught me that progress is better than perfection, as progress will lead to success.

How far I have reached into my Capstone so far.So far, I have completed multiple concept designs of characters in my video game. Due to the fact that I started my designs pretty late, I had only produced three character designs. I had also started working on some landscapes and/or environmental designs, but I would still need to finish them. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to draw up extra concept designs that revolve around the lifestyle and history of the game, but I might still be able to cram some designs if I have some time. Evidence I have posted I haven't quite posted any evidence yet because I could not access some photos to post. I will be posting them soon. Things I still need to completeI will still need to finish a lot of concept designs and finalize them as best I can. I also have my presentation to work on for the interviews. How I will complete my tasksI set a schedule to make time for my project and commit to it. I will probably not get some things done, but I will prioritize any important assignments. The most rewarding aspect of my projectThe most rewarding aspect of my project is the project itself. This project pushed me to really advance my artistic abilities to the limit, and it was such a great experience learning. I learned so many new possibilities and opportunities that will definitely help me in my future career. Some days I was inspired and full of ideas and some days my brain gets blocked by procrastination, and that is ok. Failure and procrastination has taught me that progress is more important than perfection, and as you continue to progress, you will eventually reach success. My Capstone project may not be perfect, but I worked hard on it and I am proud of it.
Capstone ProgressSo far, I'm still quite behind on my Capstone. I wanted to start drawing on Procreate to start my concept designs but right now, I only have started drawing on my sketchbook. I also need to research and learn about concept and character designing, and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. Revisions I need to improve my Capstone draftI will probably need to elaborate more on my goal. I keep saying I would draw up concept designs but I still don't know what exactly I'm gonna draw. Maybe a children's storybook, or create my own video game characters. I don't know. My strengthsI have some experience in art to help with my Capstone, and I also have an interest in creating my own characters that live in their own world. Basically, I love storytelling and creating new concepts of otherworldly creatures, extraterrestrials, and mythical regions and landscapes. My weaknessesI do have the tendency to experience art block from time to time. Art block is basically an obstacle that all artists have to face, and it usually drains them of any creativity and motivation to create a new piece of art. I also have the habit of procrastinating a lot which does not help.
My Capstone goals between now and Spring break and what I want to do accomplishI plan to start my concept designs on Procreate. I also plan to complete my research before Spring break comes, but if it takes longer than I will be extending that work to Spring break. I don't really see the Spring break as a break from work but rather as an extension to work on my project, so I will be utilizing it as much as I can. How I will do itI will be spending multiple hours on Procreate drawing up designs and creating mind maps for a story I will be creating. This story can be for a video game or any digital media adaptation. How I will provide progressI will be providing progress through my website in the Evidence and Artifacts page. I will be documenting my progress through there by explaining what I did and reflecting on my work.
How my draft proposal helped me with my Capstone project. My draft proposal has helped me to spark my ideas into actions and I can finally start my project. It has also made me realize some roadblocks and obstacles I have to deal with to finish this project. Overall the draft proposal just helped my ideas to be more organized and layed-out rather than a jumbled mess. Strategies I plan to use to be productive
Obstacles I need to overcomeFor my project, I chose to learn/teach myself how to use the different programs for graphic design (Photoshop, Procreate, etc.). I would love to learn the basics of graphic designing as I am going to be pursuing it as a potential career in the future, however, I do not have access to some of these programs. Luckily, I do have a little bit of experience in this field, but I will be needing more knowledge and practice to fully utilize it.
What I have accomplished so far.So far, I have accomplished not much. I only have ideas for my Capstone and I still haven't weighed out what I am willing to do yet. I have also set up this website but there are still more I need to edit. What I have learnedI have learned that I need to be on top of my goals every day because lately I have been procrastinating all of my work. I need to set my priorities and get them done soon. What still needs to be done.I need to decide and start my Capstone very soon, so I can get ahead and have enough time to do other things. I will need to organize my time and each task I need to finish. I might ask for outside help during my project.
Build my Digital/Visual PortfolioThis idea correlates with the occupational strand and is basically just me building my art portfolio, visual or digital media, for Capstone and ultimately help me to apply for post secondary art schools. Pros:
Create and code my own video gameThis idea also relates to the occupational strand, where I make my own mini video game. Having to learn how to code myself and come up with a goal/purpose, or even make up a plot behind it.
Pros:
