Faye Full Body ConceptI saved my favourite character for last and, I have to admit, I actually worked on this a little harder than the other concepts. I finalized her look and coloured her. I also drew the back view but I had no time and motivation to fully colour them. I incorporated the wings, when she uses them and when she doesn't use them. At this point, I was really on a roll and I still hadn't worked on any environment designs. I really wanted to learn and work on environment art but I really had no time. Instead, I searched up images online and procure some pictures to create a mini mood board. These are some pictures of what I picture the setting of the game to be.

Queen Minerva Concept DesignI decided to move on from Atlas and started to work on Minerva. I had decided to work on Minerva because I was still unsure about some details about her, so I chose to work and colour her concept design that day. Everything was sort of last minute decision as I didn't really plan much for her. I just her to be evil and had magic robotic arms. I had the last minute decision to make her have a darker complexion and her dress was also a last minute decision. In the end, I was quite happy with how she turned out. Again, I had bigger plans for her but it didn't work out because of the time crunch.
Atlas Concept DesignsAfter procrastinating so much on the protagonist, I had finally decided to work on him, starting with some action concepts. Basically I had drawn Atlas wielding different weapons as he owns a comically large ring that fits within the the confines of his arm and transforms into any weapon he thinks of. These weapons can be unlocked and upgraded throughout the game. You can notice that they came from the same device indicated by the three distinct spikes scattered throughout the different weapons. After drawing the action concepts, I started actually designing his suit. It was the first design I had thought of that was heavily inspired by Iron Man and Tron. It was the first time I fully coloured something, and I had of course just used flat colours, since I had no time to fully render it completely. I also had intentions of changing the design, but since the deadline was coming up in a week, I had to move on.
Full Body ConceptsI was still stuck on deciding what to do with Atlas and his full body concept, so I decided to work on Minerva and her character, since I hadn't really quite visualized her yet. I wanted her to be an evil queen-type villain. I definitely wanted her to have some cyborg quality to her. I was thinking that her arms would be robotic arms that she can use it to manipulate magic and electricity. I forgot to put this in my mood board, but I had also used Queen Padme Amidala from the Star Wars universe and Malificent from Sleeping Beauty as inspiration for these outfits
Action ConceptsAt this point, I still had to draw the full body outfits of each character and I was really in the mood to work on Faye. So I started on her action concepts. I had fun in this session as it was my favourite part in concept designing, action concepts. Action concepts are basically quickly drawn sketches that visualize the character's movements, behaviour, and fighting poses. This was also the first time that I had started to visualize Faye's wings and her "outfit".
Drawing Face ConceptsI really wanted to get back into the flow of things, so I had continued working on more face concepts for the others. This time, I made less faces and focused more on what I wanted the characters to be. Faye Face Concepts For Faye, I had drawn less faces but still included a diverse array of emotions. The gray part of her face is the metal part to indicate that she is a cyborg. Minerva Face ConceptsFor Minerva, I had also done the same, but since I was still in the early stages of her concept, I had also incorporated different hairstyles and crown designs.
DrawingI was experiencing some art block and was losing motivation to draw, but good news was, I already had a plan and some ideas. So today I worked on making concept faces for my characters so I can convey their characters. Learning from the concept art tutorial videos, I decided to draw the faces of the main characters in different emotions because doing so, you can capture the type of character they are going to be. Their personality, attitude, and of course emotions. I had made so many faces for Atlas because I really wanted to know what type of character he was going to be. Unfortunately, I spent so much time on him that by the end of it, I was already not feeling it that day.
Planning and Mood BoardsTaking a break from Procreate, I had taken the advice from the Riot Games videos about concept art and created "mood boards" for my characters. Mood boards are basically just a collection of inspirations for the characters I'm designing. These inspirations are plucked from existing fictional characters from different types of media, and these mood boards are one of the most important building blocks to creating a character. I made 4 mood boards 1 for each main character. The Protagonist: AtlasThe characters I have based Atlas on, starting from left to right, are Iron Man (Tony Stark) from Marvel Comics, Sam Flynn from Tron: Legacy, Twinblast from Paragon, Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy game series, and Detective Alex James Murphy from RoboCop(2014). The Deuteragonist (Ally/Love Interest): FayeFaye is the love interest of Atlas and I wanted her powers relating to that of a fairy, but with a twist. Instead of a traditional fairy, I made Faye to be a cybernetically-enhanced fairy, who is half human, half robot. Her wings are made with artificial carbon and runs on technomancy, the source power of this world that is made of technology and magic. Some characters I have based Faye on, from left to right, are The Fey from Paragon, Tecna from Winx Club, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, Harley Quinn from DC Comics, and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn. The Antagonist: Queen MinervaAt first, I was leaning towards the idea of having a male villain, but I had ultimately decided on having a female villain instead because I found drawing women much easier than men. Most of women's body and anatomy are curvier and less leaner than men's so I leaned onto the idea of having an evil queen-type villain. The characters I had taken inspiration from, from left to right, are the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians, Alita from Alita: Battle Angel, Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff) from Marvel Comics, and Elphaba from Wicked.
Drawing, Planning and ReflectingI had finally started drawing on this day and it was kind of scary. I did have some experience with digital design using Adobe Photoshop, but it was still terrifying. Once I did use it, I was surprised with how easy it was. It was like drawing on paper but the possibilities were endless as there were various brushes, textures, and effects to make anything. Before I had actually started drawing my concepts, I was kind of messing around so I could get comfortable and learn more about the tools. But then I had started drawing some concept designs for my protagonist, his name is Atlas, and his full body design. I had made some notes and reflected on the designs and since it was my first time it really took a while for me to draw these. I think it took me about four hours straight and then I was done for the day.
Research and DrawingAs I was playing Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, before the game had started, I was given the choice to either play a boy or a girl and it wouldn't affect anything in the game, but it got me thinking. I wanted the protagonist of my game to also have a female counterpart, and so I started drawing concept faces. I didn't exactly want an option to choose the protagonist's gender, I wanted him to be male, but I wanted a female sidekick or partner that he fights with. It took me a little while as it was kind of hard to just randomly start drawing faces and randomize the features of each face, but I ultimately decided to make her look with pigtails. I wanted this female character to look innocent and almost child-like, but her attitude and personality actually clashes with her look as she is very serious and grim. Later that night, I had also started learning the fundamentals and basics of Procreate, the digital design software I had decided to use for my concept designs.
